UI Health and Wellness accredited once again

University of Iowa Student Health & Wellness has once again received a three-year accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

The accreditation certifies that students are provided with the highest possible patient care and is determined through independent external evaluations. The association accredits nearly 5,000 ambulatory health care facilities in the country.

“We believe our students deserve the best,” says Student Health director Jim Kellogg, in a press release. "When you see our certificate of accreditation, you know that the [association] — an independent, not-for-profit organization — has closely examined our facility and procedures. It means we care enough about our students to strive for the highest care possible.”

To become accredited, the health-care organization has to undergo a self-assessment and an on-site survey by the association. The survey provides the organization with ways to improve services to patients as well.
