The state Board of Regents Planning and Facilities Committee will recommend to the regents on Sept. 10  that they vote to proceed with three projects at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The Iowa River Landing Clinical Service Expansion project would like to develop additional outpatient clinic facilities on levels four and five of the Iowa River Landing medical office building by finishing 18,000 square feet of space.

The project would include the development of 40 examination rooms with facilities for patient reception, along with support services for the Urology, Internal Medicine, and Surgery Departments.

A second project relates to the relocation of the Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Lab, expansions of levels five and six in the Pappajohn Pavilion, and a connector to the UI Children’s Hospital.

Project plans include a relocation and expansion for the pediatric cardiac catheterization facilities and filling in a recessed area on the west side of the Pappajohn Pavilion to provide enough space for developments of labs to connect the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to the new Children’s Hospital. The estimated project budget is $8.7 million.

The hospital is also requesting permission to proceed with the project planning of the UIHC centralized emergency-power generation facility project.

The project would develop an off-site centralized emergency-power generation facility to provide emergency power to UIHC’s main campus. It would also support the emergency power generation needs of the UI Children’s Hospital and the below-grade hospital parking ramp, both of which are under construction.
