Local man allegedly threatens to kill a woman and her child

An Iowa City man has been accused of pulling a gun on a woman and threatening to kill her.

Derrill Jones, 31, was charged Monday with first-degree harassment.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, officers responded to a report of a man pulling a gun on a woman.

The woman told officials the two had been in an argument, and the suspect pulled a handgun on her.

The woman, who is five months pregnant said the defendant pulled the gun on her before saying, “I will kill you and your baby.”

Jones has a history of several felony convictions. His most recent was July 13, 2011, for third-degree burglary.
