Man faces controlled-substance violation

A wanted Iowa City man has been charged after crack was allegedly found inside his sock.

Enrique Tharrington, 36, was charged Monday with a controlled-substance violation.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, officers observed Tharrington walking near the 40 building of the Dolphin Lake Apartments, 2401 Highway 6 E. on Monday.

Upon approaching him to arrest him, officers reportedly located a small bag containing a white powder in his sock. Tharrington told officers that the substance he had under his possession was “crack.”

The total weight of the substance stood at 16.65 grams at the time of the arrest.

A controlled-substance violation is a Class-C felony.
