Man charged with sex assault

A Waterloo man has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting his now-ex-fiancée.

Brylan Alexander, 34, was charged on July 10 with third-degree sexual abuse.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, on March 23, Alexander’s ex-fiancé came to the police station to speak to officers regarding an abusive situation.

While speaking with officers, she disclosed that Alexander used to sexually assault her while she was helpless due to a medical condition that persisted for over a year.

She reportedly told the police she was afraid because she lived in the same area as him and he had found her and allegedly showed up at their daughter’s school unannounced.

Alexander has a history of following the female victim and showing up in same locations as she is.

During a recorded phone call, Alexander allegedly admitted to assaulting the victim during the time she had originally told the police.

Third-degree sexual abuse is a Class-C felony.
