Iowa City man charged with stalking

An Iowa City man has been charged after allegedly sending threatening text messages.

Tahmir Allen, 22, was charged July 2 with stalking a person.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, at 7:56 a.m. May 8, Allen sent a text message to the alleged victim that contained a picture of him holding a gun. A finger was on the trigger with the message “This is what I’m going to do to you for snitching on me,” the complaint said. A second incident a number of days later yielded a similar situation. At 11:27 a.m. May 11, Allen allegedly sent another message of him holding a long gun across his lap and his finger on the trigger. The reported victim claimed to be fearful of Allen and is the protected party under a no-contact protective order.

Stalking is a Class-D felony.
