Woman charged with fourth-degree theft

An Iowa City woman has been charged with stealing a television from an Iowa City residence.

Patience Dawley, 22, was charged May 22 with fourth-degree theft after she allegedly stored a stolen television in her garage.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, the original television owner contacted officers saying she believed Dawley had taken her things.

While law-enforcement officers were working on another incident at Dawley’s residence, her boyfriend told police that the television was in the garage.

Officers were granted access to the garage, where they located one of the stolen televisions, the complaint said.

Dawley denied knowledge of the television.

Fourth-degree theft is a serious misdemeanor.
