Woman charged with using a juvenile to commit crimes

An Iowa City resident has been charged after using juveniles to commit certain offenses.

Saira Jacobs, 26, was charged on June 13 with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and using juveniles to commit offenses.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, Jacobs and a minor allegedly found or stole a wallet containing a credit card. The subjects then reportedly went to the Den, Cheap and Chic, and Modern Nail and put minutes on a phone using the credit card. The total costs of these products and services charged to the credit card amounted to more than $200, the complaint said.

The juvenile allegedly forged the credit card at two locations. Forgery is a Class-D felony. Jacobs allegedly forged a credit-card receipt in at least one location, the complaint said.

Contributing to the delinquency of a minor and using juveniles to commit offenses is a Class-C felony.
