Woman charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief

A North Liberty woman has been accused of breaking a spork in jail.

Tera Harris, 25, was charged Sunday with fifth-degree criminal mischief.

Harris was processed into the jail on theft charges. After the processing, she was asked if she would like an evening meal. She said yes, according to the Johnson County Sherriff’s Office.

After Harris finished her meal, law-enforcement officials noted that in a recorded video, Harris could reportedly be seen bending a spork in an empty slot of the food tray until it broke.

Harris said she was trying cut the roast beef on her tray. The cost of the polypropylene spork is $15.99.

Fifth-degree criminal mischief is a simple misdemeanor.
