Local man accused of inappropriately touching his half-sister

A local man has been accused of inappropriately touching his half-sister while she was sleeping.

David Hamm, 41, was charged Jan. 11 with third-degree sexual abuse and incest.

The female victim reported to Iowa City police that Hamm and the female were lying beside each other when she fell asleep, and he put his finger inside her vagina.

The female later woke up with Hamm’s hand down her underwear. The female said she could feel his finger inside her vagina, the police complaint said.

The victim immediately reacted, got out of bed, and started yelling at Hamm. The female ran out of the room hysterically and eventually told her mother what Hamm did, the complaint said.

The female immediately went to the hospital for an exam and reported the incident to the police.

Third-degree sexual abuse is a Class-C felony. Incest is a class-D felony.
