Local man charged after sexually abusing a child on multiple occasions

A local man was arrested after allegedly sexually abusing a child on several occasions.

Michael Walker, 55, was accused March 1 with second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree sexual abuse.

A 12-year-old reported to Iowa City police that Walker performed sexual acts on her on three separate occasions in January and February. Walker was interviewed by police officials and allegedly admitted to having inappropriate sexual contact with the victim. During the interview, Walker also reportedly admitted to having inappropriate sexual contact with another person who stated she was also sexually abused in second or third grade.

Second-degree sexual abuse is a Class-B felony. Third-degree sexual abuse is a Class-C felony.
