Muscatine man charged after driving recklessly on a snowy road

A Muscatine man has been arrested after reportedly recklessly driving on a road covered in snow.

Reiland was driving in the turn lane going westbound on Highway 6 on a road covered with snow.

Reiland then started driving eastbound on Highway 6. Johnson County sheriff’s deputies initiated a traffic stop after observing the driving. Reiland had watery eyes, slurred speech, smelled of alcohol, and admitted to officials he had been drinking, the sheriff’s complaint said. Reiland has a work permit in order to drive to and from work but has a barred license. He was not driving from work to his residence when the traffic stop was made.

Driving while barred is an aggravated misdemeanor. Third-offense OWI is a Class-D felony.
