Pfeifer sentenced to 10 years in prison

Evan Pfeifer, 20, who was found guilty on Nov. 30 of third-degree sexual abuse, was sentenced today to a prison term of 10 years.

Pfeifer was accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the west side of the Pentacrest on the early morning of Oct. 3, 2010. The victim testified that she was walking to her dorm room after being out late that night when Pfeifer approached and eventually assaulted her.

According to a Courthouse document, Pfeifer is temporarily in the custody of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office pending transfer to the Iowa Medical & Classification Center in Oakdale. He will be given credit for the time he has served while awaiting disposition through this date as well as for each day severed in the custody of the county sheriff.

The court recommended to the Board of Parole that it follow usual guidelines in determining when Pfeifer should be released. He could potentially see his sentence reduced by half of the maximum sentence due to statutory good conduct time, work credits, and program credits, according to the Courthouse document, and he may be eligible for parole before the sentence is discharged.
