Man accused of threatening ex-girlfriend

A man has been accused of threatening to kill his pregnant ex-girlfriend who is carrying their child.

Jonathan Stegall, 20, was charged Nov. 8 with first-degree harassment.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, Stegall and the victim were previously in a relationship and were expecting a baby. Stegall was upset about the victim allegedly being in a relationship with someone else and allegedly sent threatening text messages to her.

The victim was sent more than 10 messages all describing different ways Stegall wished she and the baby would die.

According to the complaint, Stegall sent the victim messages that stated, “You are going to die even if I have to do it myself” and “I’m on my way there to show you I’m serious.”

The victim reportedly called police officials in fear he was coming to her workplace, and police found Stegall in the bus stop a half block from her workplace.
