Iowa City Finance Director Kevin O’Malley will retire from his position, City Manager Tom Markus announced in a city memorandum.
O’Malley has been employed by the city since August 1985. He initially worked as an assistant finance director; he was promoted to head the city’s Finance Department in October 1999.
O’Malley’s retirement will be effective Jan. 31, 2013. According to the memorandum, city officials will now begin a national search for his replacement.
