Man accused of knocking down door following attempted burglary

A Clarksville, Iowa, man has been accused of kicking in a door while attempting to burglarize the residence.

Matthew Wilken, 27, was charged Oct. 27 with second-degree burglary.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, Wilken kicked in a door and fought with the victim on the floor, the complaint said.

After Wilken was taken into police custody, he told police officials he knew there was a person inside with the victim and he wanted to allegedly remove that person.

According to the complaint, the victim requested through text messages with Wilken to leave, which he reportedly refused to do.

Second-degree burglary is a Class-C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.
