Man previously accused of sexual abuse charges is now accused of perjury

A man previously accused of felony sexual abuse is now also accused of perjury, according to an Iowa City police complaint.

Travis Lee Porter, 45, had been accused of two counts of third-degree sexual abuse and second-degree sexual abuse in connection with alleged sex acts with a child on various occasions. According to the documents, Porter sexually abused a Johnson County girl numerous times between 1999 and 2005. Porter reportedly forced the victim to engage in the acts and threatened her.

Porter’s bond for his perjury charge was posted with a $5,000 surety, according to online court documents.

Porter’s preliminary hearing for his perjury charge is scheduled for2 p.m. Oct. 29 . His trial on his sexual-abuses charges is scheduled for9 a.m. Oct. 23.
