The Iowa City Fire Department announced the establishment of a Child Passenger Safety Fit Station Tuesday.

The Fit Station will be located at Iowa City Fire Department Station No. 4, and the department will hold several events throughout the year, the first being scheduled for 5-7:30 p.m. Oct. 2.

Six firefighters recently completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification program. The department now has eight certified technicians, according to the press release.

Families can use the station’s services during any event or schedule an appointment with a child passenger safety technician.
