Man accused of damaging car in Old Capitol lot

A Portland, Ore. ,man was charged Sept. 8 after he allegedly damaged a car in the University Capitol Center parking lot.

According to a University of Iowa police complaint, Adam Clay, 30, was charged after police received a call from an Iowa City maintenance worker, who witnessed Clay allegedly pounding on a white Land Rover and breaking the mirrors off, throwing them into the street.

The complaint said officers arrived while Clay was still pounding on the windows of the vehicle. Clay allegedly exhibited a strong odor of alcohol, had red, bloodshot eyes, and admitted to drinking alcohol, according to the complaint. The complaint said Clay provided a breath test result of 0.250.

Clay is charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a Class-D felony.
