Inmate accused of biting 2 deputies

A Coralville man has been accused of biting two on-duty peace officers.

William Liston, 57, Coralville, was charged July 14 with two counts of assault with intent of injury to a peace officer.

According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office complaint, Liston allegedly bit on-duty in uniform peace officers assigned to jail duties while an officer was providing medical treatment to Liston.

The bites caused lacerations and pain. Liston told the officers he had hepatitis C and HIV.

Assault with intent of injury of a peace officer is a Class-D felony.
