City Hall implements QR code technology

City officials announced Tuesday that there are now QR codes at the entrance of Emma Harvat Hall and Helling Conference Room in City Hall, according to a city press release.

QR — or "quick response" — is a code that provides people with smart phones electronic links to online information.

The QR codes will direct those who scan them to links of city meeting agendas.

"The implementation of this technology advances Iowa City’s efforts to be transparent and offer residents the most up-to-date information about our government operations, as well as providing a paperless resource for those interested in cutting down on paper waste and making use of the latest trends in technology," the release said.
