According to an Iowa City police press release, on April 30 at 12:06 p.m., the police, the Iowa City Fire Department, and the Johnson County Ambulance Service responded to 2018 Waterfront Dr. #120 after a 911 call reported a baby with difficulty breathing.

The child has been identified as 20-month-old Marcus Balderas, who was pronounced dead after being taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for breathing problems, the release said.

According to the release, a preliminary autopsy has been conducted, but the results are not yet available, and the cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
