Iowa Board of Regents to vote on demolishing several UI buildings

The state Board of Regents will vote on April 26 meeting at Northern Iowa University on demolishing the following University of Iowa buildings:

• Oakdale Duplexes, 2220 Crosspark Road, Oakdale Campus. The duplexes are typically used to house faculty and international students, but they have been unoccupied for two-thirds of the year as many students want to stay closer to campus, according to the regents.

• 711 Melrose Ave. UI officials are looking to demolish the building in order to proceed with the construction of the Melrose Avenue surface parking lot project.

• 15 Melrose Place. The rental facility, built 1950, is vacant.
