Police investigate armed robbery of cab driver

An Iowa City cab driver was reportedly robbed at knifepoint on the night of March 30.

According to an Iowa City police press release, the officers responded 11:45 p.m. to a report of a Yellow Cab driver being robbed at knifepoint on Warwick Circle. The driver reportedly picked up the suspect in downtown Iowa City. When the cab reached Warwick Circle, the suspect allegedly waved a knife and demanded money.

According to the release, the driver complied, and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is reportedly described as a white male, late 30s to early 40s, approximately 5-5, gray beard, wearing a blue hat, glasses, T-shirt, and a brown flannel shirt.

The police are investigating the robbery and seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspect.
