Two Johnson County inmates allegedly set fire to TV

Two inmates face charges after they allegedly tampered with a television at the Johnson County Jail.

Robert Nash IV, Cedar Rapids, and Sylvester Campbell, Coralville, were charged Feb. 23 with reckless use of fire.

According to a complaint, both of the men were seen on camera in the dayroom of the jail tampering with the television. The actions reportedly created an electrical spark and started a small fire.

Authorities say the two men proceeded to go into a cell occupied by other inmates.

Reckless use of fire is a serious misdimeanor punishable by up to one year in prison and a maximum fine of $1,875.
