An Iowa City woman has been charged with assault following an incident at a party.

According to Iowa City police, Krista Stramel, 24, 201 Hawk Ridge Drive, was charged on Jan. 2 with assault causing bodily injury.

Stramel allegedly attacked another woman and beat her to the ground at a party at Stramel’s residence. The alleged fight was the result of an argument between Stramel and the woman, who received a black eye and other facial injuries, the report said.

Assault causing bodily injury is a serious misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a maximum fine of $1,875.
