New School of Music facility to be one building

The proposed new University of Iowa music facility has been redesigned to be one building, UI officials told state Board of Regents on Tuesday in Ames.

The initial design called for two separate buildings.

The facility to replace the Voxman Music Building and Clapp Recital Hall will be located at the intersection of Burlington and Clinton Streets; it should be completed 2016 in time for the fall semester.

The plan initially called for two separate buildings to be constructed on either side of Clinton Street connected by a skywalk.
