An inmate at the Johnson County Jail was charged Dec. 9 after he allegedly assaulted a sheriff’s deputy while being moved from visitation back to his cell block.

According to a complaint by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Charon Williams, 28, was being transported back to his cell block from visitation by a sheriff’s deputy and was arguing with the deputy because his visit was ended early. Williams allegedly refused to enter the cell block when commanded and then was ordered to a holding cell several times, according to the complaint. He allegedly refused to listen.

The deputy grabbed Williams’ arm, the complaint said, and Williams allegedly jerked away. The deputy was then pushed into the door of the cell block, and a fight started, the complaint said.

Williams allegedly punched the deputy in the face, knocking his glasses off. The deputy sustained several scratches to his face, neck, and arms from the incident, the complaint said.

Williams is charged with assault against a peace officer causing an injury and interference with official acts.
