UI sees decrease in crime statistics

UI crime statistics have decreased since last year, according to a report released at the state Board of Regents meeting Thursday.

In 2010, there were 2,109 offenses and incidences; that figure dropped to 2,084 in 2011. The UI also saw a drop from 1,475 to 1,375 for the total number of charges. The number of people arrested went from 1,198 to 1,150.

Though the UI has seen a decrease, the statistics are still significantly higher than Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa.

ISU had 1,660 offenses and incidents, and UNI had 328.
