Police: Coralville man hit man with bat

Coralville police charged a local man after he allegedly hit a man with a baseball bat.

Leopoldo Galvan, 38, Coralville, was charged Oct. 21 with willful injury causing bodily injury.

According to a complaint, Galvan allegedly lured his ex-wife’s boyfriend to an address in Coralville by sending texts from his ex-wife’s cell phone.

When the boyfriend came to the residence and knocked on the door, Galvan allegedly hit him in th head with a baseball bat, causing lacerations requiring staples.

Willful injury causing bodily injury is a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $7,500.
