JoCo supervisors collaborate with nearby counties

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors say discussions with Black Hawk and Linn County supervisors may be in the future.

The supervisors discussed the possibility of combining lobbying efforts to request cooperation from state policymakers on county and state issues at their Thursday meeting.

Supervisor Rod Sullivan said the supervisors will officially discuss the issue next week.

He said the main issues include a 10-cent increase in the gas tax, property tax, and mental-health coverage.

The Johnson County engineer Greg Parker described to the supervisors the benefits of a gas-tax increase to pay for the improvement of area roads.
