Eleven University of Iowa College of Law graduates have applied to fill the empty seat of Judge Edward Mansfield on the Iowa Court of Appeals. Masfield vacated the position when he was appointed to the Iowa Supreme Court, according to a press release from the Iowa Judicial Branch.
A total of 26 Iowans applied for the job, and interviews will be held with a nominating commission on May 9 and 10 in the Judicial Branch Building in Des Moines.
Gov. Terry Branstad will make the final decision on who is chosen for the judge’s position. After the 15-member commission picks its nominees, Branstad will have 30 days to make the appointment.
