Iowa City police arrested a local man after he allegedly drove drunk with young children in the car.

Michael Ray, 36, 436 Southgate Ave., was charged April 24 with OWI and child endangerment without injury.

According to reports, police stopped Ray’s blue Chevy Suburban for following too closely and squealing his tires.

Officers said they smelled alcohol when speaking to Ray, and he allegedly admitted to drinking earlier that day

The report said Ray blew a .155 in a preliminary breath test and failed field sobriety tests.

The man was transporting his 3- and 5-year-old sons.

Ray has a previous OWI conviction from 2009.
