Woman accused of trying to hit boyfriend with car

An Iowa City woman allegedly tried to hit her boyfriend with her car.

DaLaina Porter, 30, 2407 Bitter Sweet Court, was charged Oct. 29 with reckless driving, going armed with intent, and domestic abuse with intent.

According to Coralville police, Porter used her vehicle as a weapon to try to strike her boyfriend — with whom she had lived for one year — in another car at 720 Fourth Ave. Place, Coralville. The impact deployed both of Porter’s airbags.

Porter reportedly admitted she intended to strike her boyfriend to hurt him.

Going armed with intent is a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500. Domestic abuse assault with intent is a aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years and a fine of up to $6,250.
