UISG elects speaker of Senate

In a meeting Sunday night, the University of Iowa Student Government voted to elect junior Hannah Lee as this term’s Speaker of the Senate.

The next academic year will mark Lee’s fourth year of participation in UISG. She will be a senior in the Tippie College of Business and studies marketing and communication studies.

All seated senators were asked to rank the three candidates, with a majority vote to determine the eventual winner.

The speaker of the Senate administrates legislative affairs of UISG, running meetings and providing guidance to members of the Senate, committee, and executive members.

“With my experiences in UISG, along with the knowledge I gained as an Orientation student adviser and my executive board roles in various activities in the Tippie College of Business, I feel as if I have the ability to take student needs into action,” Lee said in her candidate biography.
