Bulaga accepts invite to New York

Bryan Bulaga earned a trip to the Big Apple.

The former Iowa offensive tackle was one of eight NFL draft prospects to accept invitations to next week’s 2010 NFL draft, which will take place inside Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The number of invitations accepted is now up to 16 and could become more for the now three-day event.

Bulaga is regarded as one of the draft’s top offensive linemen and is projected to be a top-10 selection. He would be the first Hawkeye to be a top-10 NFL draft pick since Robert Gallery was selected second overall by the Oakland Raiders in 2004.

He would also be the first Iowa player to go in the first round since Chad Greenway was taken 18th overall by the Minnesota Vikings in 2006.

The Crystal Lake, Ill., native was one of two Hawkeyes to forego his senior season for the draft; cornerback Amari Spievey also elected to become draft eligible.

The first round of next week’s draft takes place on April 22, with the second and third rounds on April 23 and the final four rounds on April 24.
