County sues woman after crash

Johnson County is suing an Iowa City woman because, officials contend, she crashed into a deputy sheriff’s car.

On Nov. 5, 2009, Rena Marie Kelley allegedly drove through a red light at the intersection of the Interstate 218 exit ramp and Highway 1. At the same time, Lt. Douglas Ockenfels drove through a green light in that intersection and Kelley drove into the side of Ockenfels’ car, according to court records.

The county has requested that the owner of the vehicle, Suzanne Marie Neuzil of Riverside pay more than $14,500 for damages to the car.
