Man charged with assault with intent

An Iowa City man faces a felony charge after he allegedly attacked a woman in her home on Monday night with the intention of sexually assaulting her.

Daniel Bothell, 32, of 424 Dakota Trail, was charged with assault with intention to commit sexual abuse.

According to police reports, Vothell allegedly dragged the victim down the hallway of her home while hitting her repeatedly at about 11 p.m. Monday. He then allegedly ripped her clothes off as he forced into her a bedroom.

Police allege that Vothell bit the woman’s neck, puncturing her skin.
