Bazzell out in council election

Official results from the Oct. 3 Iowa City City Council primary confirm Jared Bazzell is no longer on the ballot.

Officials waited until 1 p.m. Thursday to count any absentee ballots and overseas votes that had not yet been returned to Iowa City.

The votes that were counted only benefited candidates Susan Mims and Terry Dickens.

The general election will be held Nov. 3, leaving Susan Mims, Terry Dickens, Jeff Shipley, and Dan Tallon aiming for the two vacant at-large Council seats.

Candidates Mark McCallum and current Councilor Connie Champion are running for the District B seat.

Early voting will begin Oct. 26, when satellite locations for students will be available on campus.
