Attempted-murder trial delayed

The trial of an Iowa City man accused of attempted murder has been delayed.

Gregory Phillips, 55, is now scheduled to go to trial Feb. 8, 2010. His pretrial conference will be Jan. 28, 2010.

Phillips’s trial was supposed to start Oct. 5.

According to police reports, Phillips threatened an apartment manager at gunpoint after the manager reportedly told Phillips he would have to move to another unit because of a remodeling project.

Phillips allegedly pointed a handgun at the manager and pulled the trigger, but the gun didn’t fire.

Attempted murder is a Class B felony, generally punishable by up to 50 years in prison.
