Incoming Iowa freshman Jaime Printy didn’t look like someone who had never suited up for a Division-I basketball game.

The Marion product scored a team-high 15 points in the first half on the way to a 17-point, six-rebound, seven-assist performance. Printy’s offensive output, which included four first half 3-pointers, led Active Endeavors/McCurry’s to a dominating 88-60 victory over Goodfellow Printing/Imprinted Sportswear. She went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc, 6-for-9 overall.

Her confidence on the court and off is evident.

“I’m more excited than nervous,” Printy said about playing for the Hawkeyes next season. “I’ve played [in the Game Time League] for two years already. It’s really exciting to play with [teammate and fellow Hawkeye JoAnn Hamlin]. She’s absolutely awesome.”

While Printy’s ability may be unknown to many college basketball enthusiasts, Active Endeavors/McCurry’s head coach Mark Weaver knew exactly what he was getting when he drafted her.

“I’ve known Jamie for some time. She played AAU for me,” he said. “She’s developed in all facets of her game. Her passing is what she’s really improved. She’s always been a great scorer. She will make a great contribution.”

Fellow Hawkeye Shante Jones was exceptional in defeat. The sophomore guard scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, accounting for more than one-third of Goodfellow/Imprinted’s total points.

“I was very happy with her progress tonight,” Goodfellow/Imprinted head coach Brendan Unkrich said. “She played hard all night. She shot the ball very well.”

Unkrich was more impressed with her talent without the ball.

“Her instincts are very good, like on fast breaks. She steps right in front of the ball,” Unkrich said.

“We just need to get her some playing time. She didn’t play in a lot of games this past year,” Unkrich said. “We have to get her in game like situations so she can help the Hawks.”

Active Endeavors/McCurry’s took the lead early in the contest and never gave it up, thanks in part to Printy’s offensive explosion and 15 points from Samantha Rinehart of Lewis University.

Kirkwood’s Kalli Hansen and Annie Eckhoff of Carlton College each contributed 10 points in the win. Active Endeavors/McCurry’s was led in rebounds by Shanda Novak of Mount Mercy College and Hamlin, who will be a senior for the Hawkeyes next season, scored six points and pulled down two rebounds.

Active Endeavors/ McCurry’s next game will be Thursday against a Kachine Alexander-led Coralville Hy-Vee squad. Also on Thursday, Goodfellow/Imprinted will take on L.L. Pelling Company/Cullen Painting, led by Iowa sophomore-to-be Hannah Draxten.
