A leaked patrol-car video of Iowa offensive lineman Josh Koeppel's accident that appeared on YouTube has been traced to Koeppel's friends.

Koeppel, riding his moped west on Burlington Street, was struck Monday at 7:25 a.m. by a truck operated by John Logan of Iowa City, who was traveling east on Burlington. Koeppel sustained minor injuries, and Logan received a scheduled fine of $100 for failing to yield while making a left turn.

An Iowa City police officer saw the accident and activated his in-car-recording device. The camera captured the incident.

Koeppel requested a copy of the tape and showed the video to his friends. He was unaware some of these individuals used their cell phones to record the footage — one of which was uploaded online.

The video was determined to be a public record, and there was no criminal violation for the dissemination or online posting.

Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz said Tuesday it wasn't realistic to expect Koeppel to play in Iowa's season-opener against Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
